Spring is here

Spring is here!  We didn't exactly hibernate inside the house during the winter (as evidenced by several snowy blog posts) but now that daytime temperatures are routinely above 30 degrees and often all the way up into the 60's and the sky is light well past 7:00 pm, we are spending more time outside.  Lots of projects are in the works or recently finished:  a seed starter greenhouse, made totally from materials E&C found in the barn, except for two purchased two-by-fours, and now filled with dozens of planted seed pots;  a bean house (more on that later); and ground preparation for both flower and vegetable gardens.  When I'm not babysitting her, Finley spends this outdoor work time riding on her mama's back or playing in the dirt (which she sampled eating once while under the not-so-watchful eye of this grandmama!)  Buds are appearing, bulbs are pushing out of the ground, the cows are sampling the new grass in the pasture across the road, and the ground is dry enough in some places for the hens to take long, leisurely dust baths.  Spring is here!
