In 1980, a girlfriend and I spent three weeks in Europe. By happy coincidence, we ended up in Zurich just in time for their annual "Burning of the Böögg" festival. If you're interested, you can read about the festival here: Sechselauten. The festival takes place in mid-April, right about the time the citizens of Zurich have had enough of winter. Well, it's only the beginning of March, but I have had enough winter! I'm not tired of wearing coats and boots and hand knits, but I am ready to make a Böögg and burn it in hopes of bringing an end to wet and/or snowy weather so the ground can dry out and we can finally get started on our road and the clearing of our homesite!
