The Christmas Edition

The Sky Edition

The Chicken Edition

Yesterday, while Christian worked at his pay-the-mortgage job, Glenn and Erika built nest boxes for the chickens, and Bonnie and Bailey snoozed, I stacked firewood, fixed lunch, washed dishes, pulled tacks out of the staircase, listened to Christmas carols and took photos.

Here is the chicken edition.

The two roosters are getting along -- so far.  The one is much better at his job of crowing and being on guard to keep the flock safe, but the bad boy with the punk hairstyle (the Turken) seems to be the most successful in the mating game -- at least to my un-educated-in-chicken-ways-eyes!

Glenn's first real visit to the farm

I was lucky enough to spend a week with E&C this past August, but this is Glenn's first visit to the farm since the day we toured it with the realtor.  We haven't walked the entire property yet, but he is surprised, as was I, how big 27 acres really is and how far our house will be from E's and C's.

Christian had to work on Saturday when we took a little tour of some of the property ("are we on our side yet?")

I love this photo:

On Sunday the boys -- with supervision from Erika -- got to work on boring holes for posts for the chicken run.  Glenn's first run at operating the tractor went well.

I think Glenn needs some overalls like Christian's

Seems to me Glenn had a good first couple of days on the farm.

December Snow Day!

It doesn't snow all that often before January in Virginia.  This fact makes the weather we've been getting especially exciting.   And as a newly minted country girl I'm loving the view.  Here are a few shots from this morning with the dogs and chickens.
